PFLAG Modesto's Fourth Annual Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Film Festival will be held on National Coming Out day, Saturday, October 11, 2008 at the historic State Theatre in downtown Modesto. The festival will offer a matinee set of films and an evening set.
The matinee starts with a reception at 2:00 in the afternoon.
The films begin with a special showing of short interviews with area residents
(2:30). Following the interviews will be a short comedy film, King County
(2007), in which a community theatre company searches for the next 80's movie
to turn into a Broadway smash hit. Another short is next, How Do I Say
This? I'm Gay? (2007), about a talk show is aimed at college students
dealing with the tribulations of coming out. The matinee feature is Tru
Loved (2008), a high school story with a happy ending, written and
directed by Stewart Wad" Recently relocated from San Francisco to conservative
suburbia by her lesbian mothers, Tru struggles like all teens to fit in and
find love" Donations are being gratefully accepted and will be recognized onscreen with name and logo (if applicable) at the following levels: Platinum - $1000 and up, Gold - $500 and up, and Silver - $100 and up.
